Yesterday Mokoia had athletics day. We had so much fun and it was a perfect day to have it as well. The events we had were discus, shot put and 100, 200 and 400 metre races. I did really well in discis I got to go to the heats but I threw it funny and I got knocked out of the competition. Over all i really enjoyed the day and my favourite  activity was shot put and  discus!

My Dream Home

This is my dream home. Mrs Bocock told us that we were able to write about our dream home, we had no money limit and we let our imaginations run wild!
We had to describe what our homes would be like in the future and include different features like an indoor pool or high ropes course.

Now get your overalls and harnesses on because we are going to my high ropes course!

My high ropes course is AMAZING! After you have completed the course you change into your togs

and you can either take the flying fox or slide down into the pool! Then once you have had enough of the pool (not that you will because it is extraordinary!) you can go onto the water park. With 13ft slides and 12 different types of slides you will never get sick of it! You're not allowed into the tramp and foam room wet so hop into the automatic human dryer.(but don't stay in there for too long or you'll shrink!) Bounce bounce! That's all you'll hear because you'll be on a giant tramp and if you're worried about falling off, don't. You'll fall into the huge foam pit that covers the whole floor!

Prom

In week 7 Mokoia has Prom and i'm really excited! We have been learning all the different types of dances. The latest one we have learnt is the cha cha which is the easiest one I think. The one we dance to in a group is called cotton eye Joe. It is a really cool having this great experience at Intermediate that you could take and use the dance moves in High school.

Life education

On Monday two weeks ago Bernie and Harold from life education came to Mokoia and taught us about puberty. It was really interesting learning about the different changes happening to us. We also learnt about our brain and if we get stressed we have a WHAM ATTACK!!!
W-waiting
H-hard
A-angry
M-mean
It was a really cool finding out all the different things about us and the brain. But sadly Bernie and Harold had to go yesterday but we had a great time and Bernie made everything fun!

Boys High Buddy Holly show

At the end of last term (term 3) our school went to the Boys High Buddy holly show! It was about a boy called Buddy Holly who was a good singer and it was about his life and his tragic death! He died in a really bad plane crash, one of the engines had shut down because it was to cold. His wife had imagined a big fireball and it turned out to be the plane! It was really cool how Boys High remade the life of Buddy Holly and turned it into a play!

Forensic Science

In week 6-7 we had Constable Neil come in and teach us about Forensic science.
First of all we had a lecture about what is in forensic science, fingerprints and getting different types of DNA swabs.
Day 2 Constable Neil had set up different crime scene and we had to come up with a scenario of what had happened there.
Day 3 we had set up the Kaituna Court for everyone in Kaituna to argue if the suspect is guilty or not guilty, that was really fun and great experience!

My bio poem

My Bio Poem
Sacha

Bubbly, Fun, Amusing

Wishes to be a vet

Dreams of having a house in the heart of the South Island

Wants to own a horse ranch

Who wonders if humans will ever be able to fly

Who fears natural disasters

Who is afraid of losing my family

Who likes music, animals and lollies!

Who believes that nothing is impossible

Who loves my life

Who plans to travel the world

I hope that one day one of my dreams comes true

komodo dragon report

Komodo Dragon

I would like to introduce a fearsome creature called the komodo dragon.
Appearance
The komodo dragon’s scaly skin camouflages into the dry grassy hills. Their shark like teeth can rip through the flesh of any of the komodo’s prey. If one of their 60 teeth get ripped out they regrow after three days. Some can grow to be 1.8m to 3.0m long. A human has no chance against the komodo. The     komodo dragon can weigh up to 300 kg.

Diet
The komodo’s diet is full of nutritious food. Mostly they eat: wild pigs, deer, large water buffalo and when they come around… humans! When a komodo dragon leaves its nest other komodos come and eat the eggs and the babies. They are carnivores, they eat large amounts of meat. Komodo dragons can eat twice their own body weight.

Habitat
The komodo dragon only lives in 5 Indonesian countries. They live in dry hillsides and woodlands.

Enemies
The komodo dragon’s enemies are themselves. They give out a warning by puffing out their throat                 before they attack.  Humans are their enemies too if they have weapons.
Life span
The komodo can live up to be 20-40 years old.
There are only 3,000 to 5,000 komodo dragons left in the world. This makes them endangered. They can lay up to 30 eggs.
Special features
Their saliva carries 50 different types of bacteria which can kill prey within 24 hours! If they get too hot they swim and afterwards they go into a burrow to get their temperature back to normal. When they are young they can climb trees. They can taste the air with their deep forked tongue. To get their prey they can run up to 18km/hr and they can dive for prey from 4.5 meters away.

Thank you for reading my report and I hope you have learnt something about the komodo dragon.

Fun science fair

Last week our class had a big fun science fair in the science lab. We had a range of different types of experiments from sucking an egg into a vase to elephant tooth paste!! My experiment was making a square bubble!
                                                          Sorry its sideways!
                                                         Final product!

Science Fair and fun experiments!

Last term we had a science fair and my question was "if coca cola can do this then why cant milk?", and it was about how rotten a tooth can get in milk and coke. I also tested other things that coke and milk can do like coke can clean windows and strip colour out of hair!

Stage challenge

Stage challenge!

In term 2 I was involved in Stage challenge. It was hard work and loads of fun! We practiced on weekends and after school. Our theme was paranormal and my group was zombies! The makeup was really neat and to make our scars look real we used latex, it smelt really bad but it was worth it! I would highly recomend you try out stage challenge next year!
